Easy Moong Usal
Ingredients
2 cups moong
(split or whole)
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 potato, boiled and chopped
1 tsp sambhar powder
1 tsp garam masala
Garnish with coriander leaves.
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1-2 green chillies
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp jeera seeds
a pinch of hing
oil to fry
salt to taste
Method
Soak the moong for half an hour in water
Drain the moong and pressure cook it for 3 whistles, with a little
turmeric powder
In a kadai, put the oil, mustard seeds, jeera seeds and hing.
When they splutter, add the onions and fry till they are transparent
Add the tomatoes, green chillies and ginger-garlic paste, fry for
a minute
Add the cooked moong, potato, sambhar powder and garam masala, mix
well
Add salt and cook for some more time.
